Acer Aspire One 531
Acer are normally seen as being one of the stalwarts of the budget end of the netbook arena but with this new Aspire One 531 the have taken themselves slightly upmarket.
Screen size has been increased slightly from previous models and now reaches 10.1 inches across. There’s also been an increase in processor size too with the machine now coming fitted with the Intel Atom N270.
It also starts very quickly and will fully load in just fifteen seconds and is powered by a three cell battery that will last for around four hours but you can specify a six cell battery instead to increase the useable time of the netbook.
Utilising Windows XP Home the machine also includes a 160GB hard drive and 1GB of memory.
Overall the Aspire One 531′s chassis is stylish and at 1.1kg it’s also a highly portable choice and slips easily into bags and cases. Glossy highlights around the side look good and matt plastics are used for most of the design, helping to hide fingerprints.
